Henry's birth was registered by his mother before Jas Booth, Registrar, on 28 November 1868 at Scarborough.

From "The Dominion" of Monday 2nd December 1912 - Shipping Records - Immigration into N.Z.

R.M.S. "IONIC" from LONDON arrived at Wellington (30 November 1912) via way ports and berthed at the King's Wharf at 5.30pm on Saturday. A report of the voyage (supplied by Mr.Cecil B. Greenwood, purser) states that "the Ionic commenced her journey on October 10th but owing to fog the Thames was not left until Sunday October 12th. Plymouth was reached on Saturday evening and after embarking passengers and mails the liner left for TENERIFFE at 1am on October 14th. The number of passengers on board when the "Ionic" left England was 33 first, 106 second and 546 third class. After a good run Teneriffe was reached in the afternoon of October 18th and departure taken for Cape Town at 1am on October 19th. Fine weather was experienced all the way to the South African port which was made at 5pm on November 2nd. Here the "Ionic" took on bunker coal and did not clear for HOBART until daybreak on Monday November 4th. Cold weather accompanied by strong winds was the daily experience across the Southern ocean, port being made at 8pm on November 23rd. Here some 1500 tons of cargo was discharged. Passengers to the number of 60 and the Australian mails were also landed, the final stages of the long journey being commenced at 11am on Tuesday last. The "Ionic" is expected to get away for Lyttelton on Friday. IONIC - Shaw Saville & Albion Co.Ltd. - to Plymouth and London via Monte Video, Rio de Janiero and Teneriffe. The largest passenger steamer in the New Zealand trade, 12,232 tons. Leaving Wellington December 27th 1912, Commander Roberts.
