Occupation | Master Joiner |
John was born at 5am - this from John/Emma's Family Bible. John probably worked with his eldest brother William for a while after completing his apprenticeship.
The "Hull Packet" of Tuesday 24 November 1829, reported - Marriages - Yesterday at Sculcoates Church, Mr John Jowsey, joiner of this place to Miss Ann Robinson of Leeds - married after Banns by Wm Keary, Curate. Although the marriage register says they were both "of this Parish", we know she was from Hackness - perhaps she had been working in Leeds? John and Ann returned to Wykeham where their daughter, Elizabeth Jane, was born in 1830. He carried on in the family business with his father, Richard, who was 61 by this time and probably past his prime. His death was registered by his son, John, who was present at his death, before Charles William Lotherington. The death certificate signed by John Henderson M.B.C.M. John was buried on Wednesday 14th January at 3pm. "His end was peace".
