Despite living in a "closed parish" Richard had a vote - courtesy of the land at Pickering left by William of Wilton. Richard left a will, among the bequests was - "to my said son William Jowsey my best bed and bedding thereto - upstairs ". Richard's sister Sarah was a witness at Richard & Mary's wedding - by banns. The Family Bible information sent by Peter Clayton Jowsey has "Richard Jowsey the father of Robt Jowsey died Oct 21st 1838 aged 69 years" whereas the Parish Register has him buried on 16th October of the previous year.
