Managing Director/Consultant - Performance Synergy Associates, Perth/Sydney, Australia (1988-1995)
This company, founded by myself in 1988, provided a range of services which included:
- Project management;
- Database engineering;
- Information systems analysis, design and programming;
- Custom business applications development;
- Technical support and training services.
Designed and installed a number of custom-developed software systems (e.g. accounting, stock control, marketing, manufacturing, HR management, payroll, staff rostering, etc), in Western Australia and New South Wales. Also provided design and development expertise for international clients in USA and Europe.
General-release software packages developed and marketed included EasyAccounts, a cashbook accounting application for the Macintosh, and Manufacture, a Bill of Materials and production planning program for Macintosh/Windows.
Information Systems Manager - Endeavon Health International, Perth, Western Australia (1987-1988)
Responsible for the design and implementation of office information systems involved in marketing a new range of Aloe-based Skin Care products:
- Project planning and administration;
- Financial planning (budgeting/cash flow);
- Systems analysis and design;
- Office administration/accounting systems;
- Marketing and personnel database;
- Warehouse stock control and distribution control system;
- File servers and local area network.
Computer Consultant/Trainer - LaserGraphics, Perth, Western Australia (1985-1987)
Provided a consultancy/training service specializing in Macintosh graphics/publishing software, database management software and small-business information systems:
- Typesetting of newsletters and brochures for numerous organizations and businesses;
- Produced all typesetting, graphics and printer-ready artwork for several privately-published books;
- Appointed as a Consultant for Edcom Computer Services in 1987 - provided consultancy, curriculum development and training classes for PC users in a wide range of business software, e.g. spreadsheet modeling, word-processing applications, business accounting software, desktop publishing, graphics and page layout;
- Presented training courses on database programming for the University of Western Australia (Extension).
Managing Director/Consultant - The Centre of Balance, Perth, Western Australia (1978-1985)
This organization, founded by myself and associates in 1978, provided a facility specializing in holistic health care, personal development, life-style education and stress management. Staff included psychologists, medical practitioner, stress management specialist, masseurs, family therapist, etc, plus administrative staff and visiting lecturers/trainers.
Responsibilities:
- General management, recruitment and staffing;
- Organizing visiting lecturers from overseas/interstate;
- Facilitation of various seminars, courses and workshops;
- Development of high-quality marketing and promotional publications (desktop publishing system);
- Implement client database, marketing and office information systems (Apple II and Macintosh).
Electronics Technician - Dept of Physics, University of Auckland, New Zealand (1972-1974)
Technician for the Radio Research Centre (Ardmore Field Station):
- Responsible for maintenance of all research equipment;
- Design and construction of specialized project equipment;
- Installation, maintenance and programming (FORTRAN, SPS Assembler) of the Station's IBM 1620 computer.
